DAY 202 – PUT YOUR FAITH TO WORK
By Pastor Wilberforce Bezudde
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:8-10)
Ephesians 2:10 shows that we have been created in Jesus especially for good works; works which God has prepared for us to do beforehand – “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them”.
James 2 reinforces the teaching – that we have been justified through faith. But James also emphasises that, real faith is seen in what we do.
Christians are not people who can live as they wish. God’s unconditional love and grace will never depend on what we do, but living faith involves obedient actions. As children of God, we are called and empowered to hear and obey God, and our new life in Christ means that we have received the spiritual freedom to hear and obey God. We have been redeemed by God, and separated from sin (dead to sin) and Satan’s prison; we therefore, have the freedom to obey God.
We cannot believe in the Word of God and live independently of the Word. Believing and living in Jesus, involves a complete lifestyle of faith, not just one or two actions of faith every now and then but faith becomes a lifestyle. Jesus is Lord!
Today’s Prayer
Dear Holy Spirit,
Increase the impact of the Word upon my life. Take me deeper in the massage of saving grace and living faith. Give me understanding and open the eyes of my understanding to comprehend the mysteries of grace and faith. I declare, that I have living faith not dead faith, and I will put my faith to work always, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
