DAY 192 – TRUST THE GRACE OF GOD FOR VICTORY IN THIS LIFE
By Pastor Wilberforce Bezudde
“For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal, sold under sin. For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do.” (Romans 7:14-15)
Apostle Paul discuses with us three important lessons that he learned in trying to deal with his sinful desires:
1. The knowledge of the law and trying to observe it, is not the answer to sin. Romans 7:9 says; “I was alive once without the law, but when the commandment came, sin revived and I died.”
Paul was doing well as long – as he did not understand the demands of the law. When he learned about the law and its demands, he became a slave and knew he was doomed and had come to the end of the world.
2. Self-effort or struggling in one’s own strength is not the remedy. Romans 7:15 says; “For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do.”
Paul found himself sinning in ways that he could not understand or have control over.
3. Becoming a Christian does not flush out all sin and all weaknesses from a person’s life. Being born-again takes a moment of faith but becoming Christ like is a process.
Friends let us depend on the grace of God for our victory in this life. Do not depend on self-effort or self-determination. Surrender to Christ entirely and receive His life-giving Spirit. Jesus is Lord!
Today’s Prayer
Dear Lord Jesus,
I pray that I will be strengthened to stand against every sin and temptation. Sanctify me daily. I present my body as a living sacrifice to You. Separate me for Holy use. My body shall not be defiled. I shall not bow down to the slave master again. Strengthen me in your power. I submit under the Spirit of grace. I no longer walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. In Jesus’ Name. Amen!
