DAY 184 – RESTING IN THE FINISHED WORK OF JESUS
By Pastor Wilberforce Bezudde
“just as David also describes the blessedness of the man to whom God imputes righteousness apart from works: “Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered; blessed is the man to whom the Lord shall not impute sin.” (Romans 4:6-8)
David celebrates a man who does not work and yet righteousness is credited on his account.
There are two kinds of people:
1. The man who works, but his account is in negative.
2. The man who does not work but believes and his faith is accounted for righteousness.
Faith is resting in the finished work of Jesus Christ. Our willpower and self-effort can never earn us forgiveness and salvation. Our number one enemy is condemnation or accusation and guilt.
King David was guilty of terrible sins: adultery, murder, lying—and yet he walked in the manifestation of total forgiveness and experienced its joy. We too, can walk in the same manifestation of forgiveness. It is arrogance for someone to think that his or her sin is too big for God to forgive. Even though your faith is weak, your conscience is sensitive, and your memory haunts you. God’s Word declares that Jesus permanently paid for every sin; past, present, and future.
The radical truth is; your sins were forgiven over 2000 years ago. The day you put your faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ, is the day you begin to walk in the manifestation of the forgiveness you received on the cross of Jesus Christ. Jesus is Lord!
Today’s Confession
Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank You, for Your finished work. I receive everything You have provided. I stop to labour; I rest in Your finished work. I receive every spiritual blessing. I walk in the manifestation of forgiveness and blessing. I am a new creation, the old is gone and the new has come. I walk in the newness of life. I am no longer a prisoner to my past. My future is bright. I stop to walk in fear; I walk in the Spirit of love and power. I am a winner in Jesus’ name. Amen.
