DAY 172 – DO NOT BE ASHAMED OF THE GOSPEL

By Pastor Wilberforce Bezudde

“I tell the truth in Christ, I am not lying, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Spirit, that I have great sorrow and continual grief in my heart. For I could wish that I myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my countrymen according to the flesh,” (Romans 9:1-3)

Paul showed a deep concern for his people the Jews, to the extent that he was willing to stand in the gap to take their punishment if it would give them salvation. While the only one who can save us is Christ, Paul showed unusual depth of love. Just like Jesus, he was willing to become the sacrifice so we would be saved.

Are you concerned for those who are not saved? Are you willing to sacrifice your time, money, energy, comfort, and safety, to see them come to faith in Jesus?

In this dispensation, it seems to be unpopular to preach the message of grace (the true gospel, the good news, the message of Jesus Christ). Those who preach it stand a high risk of being misunderstood, despised, hated and rejected. Are you willing to lose man given dignity and position in society – for the sake of the gospel?

I am encouraged when I hear Apostle Paul saying; “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.” Jesus is Lord!

Today’s Prayer
Dear Jesus,
Thank You, for becoming the atoning sacrifice for my sins. You gave up Your place in heaven and You came to this evil world just for me. I also give up my position in this world to be Your witness and preach Your gospel without being ashamed of it. Amen!

(Study Romans 1:16 and 2 Timothy 1:8).
