DAY 169 – PRACTISING GOD’S WORD

By Pastor Wilberforce Bezudde

“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.” (James 1:22-25)

The only way we can make the revelation of God’s word permanent and active in our daily lives is by translating what we hear and read into Christian living or practice. It is not enough to hear the word and see ourselves reflected in the mirror of God’s Word; we must practice it and avoid the temptation of being just hearers who forget. True success from God’s word accrues from practicing the word.

It is important to listen to what God’s word says, but it is much more important to obey it and to do what it says. We can measure the effectiveness of our Bible study time by the effect it has on our daily life, belief system, and attitudes. Do you put into action what you study or hear from God’s Word?  Putting God’s word in action is what brings freedom and makes our way successful. Hallelujah. Jesus is Lord!

Today’s Confession
Dear Lord,

Thank You, for the impact of Your word in my life. I am not only a hearer but also a doer of the word. The word is implanted in me, I will see every blessing of the implanted word of God manifesting in and through my life. I walk in perfect freedom. My way is successful. Nothing shall go missing and nothing shall go broken in my life, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
