DAY 168 – GOD SOUGHT FOR US
By Pastor Wilberforce Bezudde
“For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.” (Romans 5:6-9)
We did not seek God, God sought for us. Christ came at the right time and gave Himself up for a sacrificial death. We were too far from Him, weak and rebellious to do anything for ourselves. Even if we had any strength, we did not know what to do for ourselves. He did not wait for us to go to Him, He came to us. It is understandable if a man dies for a person worth dying for, or if a man is inspired to selflessly sacrifice for a good person. But God demonstrated His love to us while we were of no use to Him. Now that we are justified and set right with God by means of the blood of Jesus, we can never become enemies with God in any way. If God did not reject us while we were still enemies with Him; sinners and ungodly, how can He reject us now if we sin?
1 John 2:1-2 says; “My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.” Jesus is Lord!
Today’s Prayer
Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank You, for demonstrating Your unconditional love and grace toward me. Thank You, for coming to me. Thank You, for drawing me to You even in my bad condition. You met me at my worst, and You raised me up to my best. I am now accepted in Your family. I am the seed of Abraham. The devil has no power over me. I am a child of God. Every chain is broken. I am now free from the power of sin and death. Hallelujah!
