DAY 142 – WE ARE NOT ASHAMED OF THE GOSPEL

‘For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “the just shall live by faith.”’ (Romans 1:16-17)

Paul was not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the good news about Jesus Christ. The gospel is the good news, the message of salvation (deliverance), the message of the unconditional love and grace of God. It is the life-changing power of God. The gospel does not condemn people but reconciles them to God.

When you are tempted to be ashamed, remember what God has done for you, and what His unconditional love and grace means to you. You can never be ashamed of good things that have happened to you. The good news reveals to us the unconditional love of God, His plan to save us and how we may be fit for eternal life, no matter what we have done. The good news says; “God loves you, he has a good plan for your life, and you can be saved by grace through faith in His son Jesus Christ.”

By trusting the finished work of Christ, our relationship with God our Father, is made right. God declares us to be right with Him, because of our faith in His Son, not because of our good works or self-effort. That is the good news we can never be ashamed of. Jesus is Lord!

Today’s Prayer

Dear Holy Spirit,

Empower us to preach this message of grace. Take us deeper in the understating of this message. Open doors for us to share the gospel. Anoint our lips of clay and hide us behind the cross, let people see you instead of us. Help us to be intentional and strategic as we share the message. Release faith in the hearts of people to believe in the risen Christ. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
